Your 7-week alignment challenge starts now.
Finish stronger than you started—and roll into Q1 with momentum already compounding.
I’m going to show you 3 simple steps to turn the final seven weeks of the year into a focused, high-leverage alignment sprint that carries momentum into Q1.
Why this matters: when vision, priorities, and execution click, you reclaim time, reduce firefighting, and see measurable progress—without you being the glue that holds everything together.
Unfortunately, most leadership teams coast into the holidays and “reset in January,” losing the single best window to realign, simplify, and bank early wins.
The #1 reason teams waste the year’s final stretch
They confuse activity with aligned execution—everyone’s busy, but work isn’t laddering to the same few outcomes.
Other reasons this happens:
Too many priorities, no clear “stop doing” list
Siloed planning—each department optimizes locally, not globally
Meetings that track status instead of making decisions
No weekly cadence that links strategy → ownership → next step
The CEO becomes the bottleneck for clarity and follow-through
The good news: you can flip all of this in the next seven weeks with a simple, repeatable sequence.
Here’s how, step by step:
Step 1: Pick 3 outcomes and kill the rest.
This matters because focus compounds; scattered effort doesn’t.
Here are some examples I thought of:
“Reduce churn from 5.2% → 4.5%”
“Ship onboarding v2 by Dec 20”
“Book 10 Q1 pipeline demos from ICP accounts.”
If a task doesn’t serve one of the three, it’s paused.
👉 Publish the list company-wide so everyone sees the same finish line.
Step 2: Assign one owner per outcome—and define the next unambiguous step.
Where teams go wrong: shared ownership = no ownership.
Fix it by naming one accountable owner per outcome, then forcing concreteness: “By Friday: finalize the new success metric, confirm data source, and schedule the first read-out.” Avoid vague verbs (review, align, discuss). Use decisive ones (decide, ship, launch, sign).
Step 3: Install a 30-minute weekly Alignment Cadence.
This is the light at the end of the tunnel: one ritual that keeps strategy, people, and work in sync.
Agenda (strict):
5 min: metric snapshot per outcome (green/yellow/red)
15 min: unblock the single biggest constraint (one decision only)
10 min: confirm next steps, owners, and due dates
This ladders up to a leadership habit that survives holidays, onboarding, and growth—so January starts with momentum already rolling.
[TOMORROW!] In case you missed it… I’m running The Alignment Reset Workshop Tomorrow!
This is a 1-hour interactive identity-shifting experience designed to help you let go of limiting beliefs and step into the version of you that stays unstuck. This workshop is not about fixing you. It’s about reconnecting with the version of you who is already capable, already worthy, and already equipped to follow through. Together, we’ll create a supportive space to shed limiting beliefs, visualize your aligned self, and declare your new identity with clarity and confidence.
Helpful resource I made this week
The 7-Week Alignment Scorecard (mini-audit you can run in 10 minutes):
Score each item 0–2 (0 = not true, 2 = fully true). Aim for 12+ by next week.
We have exactly three end-of-year outcomes, written and visible.
Each outcome has a single accountable owner.
Each outcome has a measurable metric with a reliable data source.
We have a weekly 30-minute cadence on the calendar (no status theater).
We track decisions made, not just tasks discussed.
Our “stop doing” list is published and enforced.
Reply with your score and where you’re stuck—I’ll point you to the highest-leverage fix.
